FORMAT Photography Festival and QUAD, Derby
Here, There & Everywhere activity this Spring season includes residencies and exhibitions by Anthony Bila, Sipho Gongxeka and Uzoma Orju with our project partner QUAD, Derby and FORMAT International Photography Festival off year.
The artists were selected via a pan-African open-call, organised by QUAD/FORMAT, HTE, in partnership with African Artist’s Foundation and Lagos Photo, Nigeria.
Their work will be exhibited throughout QUAD, as part of FORMAT off-year from 25 April – 28 June 2020. They will also take part in a range of public talks.

Anthony Bila (South Africa) is a photographer who will make short films and photography documenting LGBTQ+ young people.
Sipho Gongxeka (South Africa) is a photographer who will be creating new photographic zines with the LGBTQ+ community in the East Midlands.

Uzoma Orju (Nigeria) is a people-centred technologist who will work together with the QUAD curatorial team to create a VR/AR exhibition space with AR interventions in the exhibition using tilt and other VR image programmes for participants and the exhibition visitors to encounter.
